Independent School Reporting Services
A variety of school research tools are offered here, some public and some we subscribe to for your benefit. We would appreciate reporting your experiences, good and bad, and especially if you identify a problem of confidence in data or in the "friendliness" of the format.
Obviously, these same tools can be used to study other area schools, or make comparisons with the community you're now living in, (except the Illinois "tools" won't be applicable if you're out of state, obviously.)
Although there are many school reporting services nowadays, these we consider tops ... containing an enormous amount of data;
1.
Official Illinois School Report Cards can be obtained directly from the Illinois State Board of Education. Once on the home page, click on “Report Cards” under the “A to Z Index”, then insert the name of the school. The chart in the block above lists the schools in each district. The site also contains a great deal of other information about Illinois schools.
2.
A newer site with attractive presentations of a lot of data, including test results and other school accountability data. Includes a great school and districts comparison feature.
3.
"Great Schools is a brand new site that's loading a great deal of school information. The detail on schools in Illinois aren't quite as extensive as some states, but it's building rapidly. Claiming not-for-profit status. It's remarkable that it's free."
4.
A respected newer site with a lot of data, with methods and tools for the study of public schools nationwide.
